A 19th century hairwork memorial pendant, with glazed hairwork compartment and engine-turned verso, bordered by flowerheads and foliate scrolls, and a 19th century hairwork memorial brooch, with dual-sided glazed compartment and openwork scrolled frame, lengths 3cm and 5.1cm respectively (2)
Pendant: chips, scuffs and scratches to glazed panel, dust and dirt residue to hairwork, some sections of gilt decoration to hairwork have become detached. Mount appears to be gilt metal, with scuffs, nicks and chips throughout. Finish to bale has worn away in places. Gross weight approx. 5.1gm. Brooch: chips, scuffs and scratches to glazed panel, dust and dirt residue to hairwork, some sections of gilt decoration to hairwork have become detached. Mount appears to be gilt metal, with scratches, scuffs, nicks and chips throughout, and fine splits to the edges of the scrolled border. The gilt finish has worn away in places. Safety chain is later added, with dark solder join at junction to mount. Pin fitting currently functions. Gross weight approx. 18gm.
