Hammer

£1,300

A 19th century yellow metal and diamond snake ring, the head of the snake set with two graduated old cut diamonds and red stone eyes, leading to twisted shank with engraved detail, unmarked, ring size R, 12gms, total diamond weight estimated 0.30ct

More Information

Please note, we have not tested the metal.
Red stones to the eyes are rubbed and the rub over mount is low.
Diamonds are both present, bright and lively.
Diamonds with inclusions seen under x10 loupe, but appear eye clean.
Ring would benefit from a clean.
Claws are a little low.
The mouth of the snake appears to have been pushed in a little, possibly while being worn.
The engraving is only present on the sides of the coils, possibly was all over, but now has rubbed away.
There is evidence of possible engravings to the interior of the ring as well.
There are no obvious signs of re sizing or repair work seen to the shank.
There is minor thinning to the tail of the snake.
The coils of the snake are compressed together, may have occurred naturally commensurate with age and wear.
