with octagonal swamped barrel formed in two stages (fore-sight missing) and retained by five iron bands, the breech fitted with brass back-sight incorporating an additional moulding behind, the tang overlaid with engraved brass (chipped), chiselled iron lock of characteristic form fitted with external mainspring, figured hardwood three-quarter stock inlaid about the tang with six mother-of-pearl plaques enriched with coral (small losses), slender faceted butt, bone butt cap, mother-of-pearl trigger-plate set with a coral bead (one small chip) and wooden ramrod, probably the original
