A 20TH CENTURY BRAZILIAN TRIBAL FEATHER HEADDRESS, PROBABLY THE JURUNA OR KAYAPO TRIBES made from yellow, blue and green feathers from Hyacinthine Macaw and Blue-fronted Parrot, mounted on cotton string, 19cm high, 51cm long (laid flat)
Both the Kayapo and Juruna tribes of Brazil are known to make feather headdresses of this semi-circular construction with a single plume of taller feathers to the centre. The tribes live on the Xingu River in the state of Mato Grosso, Central Brasil. The Kayapó tribe lives along the lower ranges and the Juruna tribe lives along with the middle and upper ranges of the river.
