(A) ADAM EVICK SIGNED EARLY WEST VIRGINIA FLINTLOCK

Adam Evick worked in Pendleton County, West Virginia (then part of Virginia) from 1810 to 1840. Gun is a rare and probably one of the best examples of his early work. This gun is featured in "The OWR-CSA Newsletter, Summer Edition, 2016, Volume 20.2" and was a featured exhibit at the Kentucky Rifle Foundation's "Prickett's Fort" Exhibition in April of 2016. Gun has a full octagon rifled barrel with blade front sight and notched rear sight signed in block letters "AE" for Adam Evick. Full curly maple stock with incised carved floral "C" pattern behind cheekpiece and incised squiggle moulding line. Brass furniture featuring a four piece engraved patchbox with typical four petal "Daisy" finial with push button release in the toeplate. Brass flat barrel keyes. Flint lock marked "Walker" contolled by double set triggers. Hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Gun has been cleaned with some restoration including a replaced forestock and reconverted lock. Brass has been cleaned long ago with small crack in finial. Dark bore with very visible rifling. Trigger does not hold cock. Rare rifle by an early Virginia frontier maker.
