A BAKSHAISH CARPET, NORTHWEST PERSIA

circa 1880

approximately 340 by 260cm; 11ft. 2in., 8ft. 6in.

Condition Report:
Overhauled and ready to use condition. Pile evenly low to knot heads in main field, slightly higher in blue spandrels. Black-browns partially oxidised to foundation and with minor recolouring of foundation in these areas. Both end guards rewoven and side cords re-overcast. Scattered repiling throughout, with one larger area in lower half of right hand blue lobe of medallion and section of ivory field adjacent to green curled leaf. Very well executed and not really visible. A striking old Bakshaish with attractive spacious drawing.
