A BARBEDIENNE VASE WITH GILT-BRONZE SATYR, 19TH C
An exquisite neoclassical bronze vase created by France’s leading bronze manufactory - Barbedienne. The Barbedienne Foundry was founded by Ferdinand Barbedienne in 1838. The vase has a neck with a gilded decorative border, two gilded handles in the form of twisted acanthus leaves, and a pedestal, also decorated with a gilded border. However, the main decoration of the vase is a masterfully executed composition of embossed ivy leaves and the sly face of antique satyr peeking out of them.
