A BLACK-LACQUERED LARGE DEEP BOWL WITH EN-SUITE STAND
Edo period (1615-1868), probably early 18th century
The exterior of plain black lacquer, the interior of coiled wood substrate, the irregular cracks repaired with staples, inscribed inside the bowl in red Uchiyama Miei-do, uwanuri kishin, Yoshine/Kazune keihaku (This top-coated item is respectfuly donated to Uchiyama Mieido Hall by Yoshine/Kazune), with date Shotoku go kinoto-hitsuji juichigatsu bi (11th month of 1715); with an en-suite stand, the underside of the stand inscribed Yottsu no uchi (one of four), Uchiyama Miei-do (Uchiyama Mieido Hall), and onhachi tsuki (with a stand). 25cm x 32.5cm (9 7/8in x 12¾in) including stand.
