A BÖTTGER STONEWARE PILGRIM FLASK
Meissen, c. 1711. Relief decoration by Johann Jacob Irminger (1633-1724).
Derived from a chased silver form, with "Pallas” head female masks, each with foliate headdress and supported on a leaf console. The lower section moulded in relief with a lambrequin band above a waisted and gadrooned oval foot.
H 15.2 cm (17.5 cm).
Minimal restoration to the mouth.
Various bottles are first noted in the factory inventory of 1711, including: "44 boutilllen mit 2 Köpffen an seiten (gebrannt)" (C. Boltz, Formen des Böttgersteinzeugs im Jahre 1711, KFS MB no.96, 1982, p.30). For comparable works, see Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (inv. no.
