A BRONZE 'DRAGONS AND PHOENIXES' VASE, HU, QING DYNASTY
China, 1644-1912. The pear-shaped body supported on a tall spreading foot and rising to a gently flared mouth, cast in low relief with two shaped panels enclosing confronted dragons and phoenixes, respectively, flanked by naturalistic handles in the form of flowering prunus branches.
Provenance: From an Austrian private collection.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, casting flaws, and minuscule nicks. The bronze covered in a rich, chocolate patina.
