China, Republic period (1912-1949). An appealing depiction of a sow lying on a pile of coins and ingots, surrounded by eight piglets stubbornly crawling up to suck their mother's udders. A rhomboidal mark to the back of the sow reads: "let riches and treasures come into the house". The coins are used as a feng shui adjustment to invite health and prosperity while the pig itself is generally highly recognized as the symbol of wealth and luck in Chinese culture.
