A BROWN-GLAZED POTTERY JUG
Possibly Nishapur, Eastern Iran, possibly 9th - 10th century
Of compressed bulbous form with flared cylindrical neck and slightly everted rim, on a short circular foot, the shoulder with a sinuous handle, made of earthenware covered in white slip, the exterior decorated with brown glaze and a painted pseudo-Kufic calligraphic inscription in white below the neck, 15cm high.
