With russet two-stage sighted Italian export barrel engraved with spiral bands of foliage at the swelling muzzle, retained by five foliate engraved brass barrel bands and rifled with eleven grooves, long octagonal breech engraved with scrolling foliage against a punched ground, signed 'Mafeo Fancino' on the top flat behind the back-sight and with a portrait bust in an oval behind, engraved tang, characteristic lock, wooden three-quarter stock with brass mounts (one missing behind the lock) embossed and chased with repeated designs of symmetrical foliage and partly enriched with small silver bosses, slender 'fish-tail' butt en suite, pierced brass trigger-guard with slender baluster tang, and two iron suspension loops (ramrod missing)
