A Baluster Vase

With flaring rim, two handles at the neck in the form of stylised elephant heads, both the interior and exterior of the vase covered in a fine crackled glaze, the base unglazed. Period: 19th century. Height: 40 cm.

Wladimir Simon Semcesen (1906‑1969) born in Austria Hungary, settled in Oslo, Norway in 1936. In the 1950’s and 1960’s before the Cultural Revolution in China, he acquired works of art in China that he brought back to Europe.
