A Berlin KPM porcelain dinner plate from a service for Countess Lichtenau

Model no. 881. Decorated with a sprig of rose in the centre and six cornflowers along the border. Blue sceptre mark, pressnummer 61. D 24.6 cm.
C. 1795.

As mistress of Crown Prince and later King in Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm II, Wilhelmine Enke (1752 - 1820), later Ritz, rose to become one of the most glamorous personalities of the late 18th century. This dinner service was commissioned in 1795 and is noted for its elegant simplicity. In the royal account book of 1791 - 1797, the commission is listed on 06.05.1795 as "painted with naturalistic roses and six cornflowers alongside two blue borders" (KPM-Archiv, Schloss Charlottenburg).
