A Bohemian flintlock pistol with lavish bone inlays, circa 1690/1700
Description: The octagonal barrel turning to round with a distinct midrib. Smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Surface-mounted, brass front sight. The top of the barrel lavishly engraved and chiselled, an over-polished signature on the barrel rib. A leaf mascaron chiselled at the breech. The lock engraved with decorative tendrils, signed "Guillaume Drevon" at the base. The walnut full stock lavishly veneered with engraved inlays of bone and mother-of-pearl, interspersed with curved bone shavings. A restored crack around the anterior lock screw, individual inlays well replaced. Iron furniture, the butt cap with an engraved house symbol, slightly torn at the edge. The wooden ramrod with engraved tip. Length 48 cm.
