A "Bois Noirci" and brass inlaid jewelery box - Napoleon III - Brass, Bois Noircia - 1850-1870

[ translate ]

A 19th century "Bois Noirci" jewellery box manufactured during the French Napoleon III period around 1850-1870. The jewellery box is made of poplar wood and glued with blackened / ebonised pear veneer. The jewellery box is decorated with brass in the form of inlaid piping, quarter-round frame and a refined engraved key entrance & cartouche on the lid. On the inside of the lid is a mirror bordered with blackened quarter-round frame. The remaining inside is covered with blue marbled paper, which, given its vulnerability, has traces of use, among other things. The jewellery box still bears its original brass hinges, lock and lock eye with working key. The jewellery box has a beautiful silk gloss, which makes the chic contrast between the black and the polished brass very beautiful! The object will be shipped well packed and insured!
