A British Pattern 1796 Heavy Cavalry Trooper's Sword by

The single-edged blade with a flat spine above a broad, shallow fuller, terminates in a spear point. The spine bears the maker's details "JosH H. Reddell & Co.". The circular steel guard pierced with eight holes, with lozenge shape strengthening plate, ribbed black leather grip, the steel two ring scabbard. Birminghamm, beginning of the 19th century, length 102.5 cm. Joseph Hadley Reddell (1775-1847), was a Birmingham maker who traded under this mark from 1807 until 1815. Reddell stopped making the 1796 heavy cavalry sword in 1815 and closed shop around 1820. Condition 2
