The brush pot is carved on one side with a frog amidst lotus, bamboo, and water plants, the reverse with a four-character inscription in raised characters, he tang qing xing (pure enjoyment of lotus pond). Together with a zitan octagonal container, carved and pierced allover with various geometric patterns, supported on a conforming base set with a tall angular handle. The container houses five mallow-shaped trays, three of which have compartmentalized interiors.
