Octagonal, rifled, 36 cal. barrel (later replacement), marked "ADDRESS SAM.L COLT NEW YORK CITY.", with foresight, re-bluing. Six-shot cylinder, with clearly visible naval battle engraving marked "COLT'S PATENT 5601" and "Engraved by W. L. Ormsby New York", re-blued. Frame with traces of antique bluing, marked "COLTS PATENT". Mechanisms in good order. Angled, brass trigger guard. Serial number "25xxx" on the frame, on the trigger guard and partly on the cylinder and the butt-plate, the spare barrel is not marked. Smooth walnut handle with brass bands and trigger guard. Kept in a wooden case (pertinent?) lined with green velvet inside, with a Colt revolver instruction label on the lid and a flask. On the lid a brass plate marked "Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Manuf'g Co. Hartford. Conn. U.S. of America".
