KILLADOON HOUSE, PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT IRISH ESTATE

A CASTELLI MAIOLICA LARGE DISH, CIRCA 1720, GRUE FAMILY WORKSHOP

painted with a landscape below a border of winged putti, bouquets and masks, in a felt covered frame
45cm. wide; 17¾in.

Condition Report:
A section of the border between 7 and 10 o'clock has been broken in two triangular sections and restored. There is an associated crack extending from the repaired section and a crack from the rim in the middle of the upper broken section. There is a faint hairline crack to the rim at about 12 o'clock and a few scattered glaze chips to the moulded border. The restoration is old and has disoloured and should ideally be refreshed, it may disguise some glaze losses.
The dish has a 20th centuy velvet-covered mount, the material to the exposed border has faded.
