A CELADON JADE HAIR ORNAMENT
Ming Dynasty
Carved to the upper surface with five coiled ribs, resting on a hollow, gently curved rectangular base, with circular apertures at each end, the pale stone with some faint russet and cloudy inclusions.
5.2cm (2 1/8in) long.
明 青玉束髮冠
The form of this ornament was intended to hold a top knot of hair, fastened with a pin through the apertures at either end.
