A CHINESE BLUE-GROUND 'PETAL' BOWL, A BLUE AND WHITE VASE AND A JAR 19th Century - Republic Period 十九世紀至民國時期 藍地人物花瓣盌、青花山水圖紋瓶及「囍」罐 The bowl formed with petal-shaped sides and painted around the exterior with the Eight Immortals on a dark-blue ground, the interior glazed turquoise below a gilt-painted rim, the based with an iron-red six-character Qianlong mark, together with a baluster vase painted with a continuous landscape scene on a crackled ground, the base with an incised brown four-character mark, and a blue and white 'double happiness' jar raised on a wood stand, 20cm diameter, the vases 19 - 40cm high (4) - PROVENANCE: From the collection of Augustus Fletcher (1928-2020), thence by descent. From 1948 to 1958 Gus Fletcher served in the Colonial Police in Malaya, and latterly was Assistant Superintendent of Police and Area Special Branch Officer in the Kuala Pilau and Bahau Police Districts of Negri Sembilan. He was awarded the George Medal in 1957 after a combined police and military operation code-named “Googly” during the Malayan Emergency. He later served the British Government in Hong Kong and New Delhi.
