A RARE CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON-GLAZED TWIN-HANDLED VASE Yuan Dynasty 元 龍泉青釉環耳瓶 The pear-shaped body resting atop a sturdy foot and rising to a flared rim, the slender neck set with a pair of flattened handles applied with rings, covered in a thick olive-green glaze, with fitted box, 15.3cm high (2) - PROVENANCE: Property of a French Private Collection formed in Hong Kong during the 1960's-1980’s 來源:法國私人收藏,1960-1980年代在香港組成 - NOTE: Vases such as these were modelled after contemporary bronze prototypes, as found on the Sinan Wreck of 1323. An identical vase can be found in the collection of the British Museum, acc. no.1936,1219.11. Comparable examples have been offered at Sotheby's London, 5th November 2008, lot 574, and Christie's New York, 24th July 2020, lot 51. Another Yuan Dynasty example with a slightly different rim was offered at Christie's Hong Kong, 1st June 2011, lot 3812. A similar piece is illustrated in Bo Gyllensvard, 'Chinese Ceramics in the Carl Kempe Collection', Stockholm, 1964, pl.153.
