A CHINESE TEA TABLE WITH SEMI-PRECIOUS STONE APPLIQUE
The early 20th century rosewood tea table incorporates both Western and Asian influence with its tripod base of three cabriole legs heavily carved in an organic motif joining the Western style turned column that supports a tilting octagonal top embellished in hardstone carvings beneath glass.
A brass maker's tag for the J.L. George company in Shanghai is tacked to the back side.
J.L. George was the English name used by Shuang Hong Tai, a Chinese furniture maker in Shanghai in the early 1900s.
Measures 27 inches high and 22 inches across.
