A CHINESE WHITE JADE CHIME
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The larger plaque carved to one side with a phoenix, with waves and clouds to the other side, all between two further archaistic phoenix and an endless knot carved in openwork, suspended within an elaborate hardwood frame carved with intertwined branches of prunus blossom, 42cm overall. (2)
Provenance: from the collection of Dr John William Hawksley Grice OBE (1891–1976) and thence by descent.
