This is a Fifth Model Civil War Burnside carbine. Marked on the top of the receiver "MODEL OF 1864". Hinged breech block. Screw in the right of the receiver. Clear cartouches on the left side of the stock. Matching numbers. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina overall, all markings are clear. Some light pitting on the receiver and lock plate. Original blue on the lever and back part of the breech block. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Wood is fine with light handling marks. Missing the spring loaded plunger which holds in the take down pin. Fine mechanical function.
