QING DYNASTY AND REPUBLIC PERIOD
Comprising: a bamboo veneer table screen and stand incised with a scholar and attendant in a garden; a bamboo veneer travelling mirror incised with two ladies, inscribed with a poem and signed Xin Ru; another bamboo veneer-inlaid folding table screen depicting a verdant mountainous landscape, inscribed with a poem and signed Yongchang; and a bamboo scripture holder incised with the eight Immortals, 29.2cm max. (6)
Provenance: from the collection of Dr John William Hawksley Grice OBE (1891–1976) and thence by descent. The 'garden' table screen formally on loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Grice loan number 32.
