The rectangular fragment of linen and purple wool, with four nude figures dancing between the arches and columns of a colonnade, the figures wearing cloaks and holding shields, 38cm long, 20cm high, (50cm long, 32cm high inc. perspex frame)
Provenance: George Anastase Michaelides (1900-1973), acquired in Egypt during 1930s-1940s and exported to London in the 1940s; UK collection, acquired in London from the daughter of George Michaelides in the early 1970s; Bonham's, London, Antiquities, 1 April 2014, lot 223; private collection, London, acquired in the above auction.
