A CYPRIOT POTTERY MILK BOWL

Late Bronze Age, circa 1550 – 1200 BC. These hemispherical ceramic bowls with a rounded bottom and a handle in the shape of a stirrup were commonly known as milk containers. It is believed that they were used by the elite to ingest hot liquids when the change in feeding occurred in the early Late Bronze Age. These containers were very popular in the Aegean and the Levant during the Late Cypriot Period (1600-1050 BC).Size: L:180mm / W:200mm ; 185gProvenance: Property of a UK Ancient Art Gallery, formerly in the Estate of Sanford Batkin, New Rochelle, NY., acquired from J.
