Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, The lid with later supporting timber screwed to the underside, The strap hinges of two differing forms, both probably replacements, there is a cut to the rear plank where a previous hinge appears to have been countersunk previously, roughly to the centre of the lid there are other various old holes where previous supporting timber may have been Various later supporting blocks to the inside, Old splits and cracks, some chips and losses, one side the grain with pitting and embedded dirt, this would probably benefit from a sympathetic clean, In two parts, the coffer section supported on the drawer base by pegs, The lock plate with age, the keeper to the lid is detached but present with the lot, the lock is locked shut at present - this has probably been removed as the lid wouldn't shut at present with it attached to the lid - no key present, handles to the base almost certainly not original, there are marks and shadows where previous handles have been Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition
