A Chinese Blue and White Square Ewer with Lid

short spout and ruyi form handle attachment rings with wire handle, each side with circular panel containing poem, geometric and floral decoration throughout,ÿunderglaze blue four character mark to base, 5-1/2 x 4-1/2 in. - Provenance: Collected in Shanghai, China prior to 1902 by Frederick and Margaret Haskell; By descent in family to Frances Arnold; Private Collection, Newnan, Georgia - Note: Objects from this personal collection were acquired in Shanghai, China between the years 1862-1902. They were collected by Frederick and Margaret Haskell. Mr. Haskell was the owner of the Japan and China Trading Company. The couple retired to Lake Weir Florida in 1902, bringing these collected objects with them to the United States and they descended through the family to current day.
