A Chinese Bronze Dragon Turtle Pierced Covered Censer, 57AX
Cast bronze censer modelled in the form of a dragon turtle, featuring a fully detailed dragon head, scaled limbs and textured shell. The removable lid is pierced with geometric openings for incense emission and crowned with a double-gourd finial. Fine moulded textures define the reptilian scales and decorative border patterns on the cover. The bronze bears a warm reddish-brown aged patina with scattered verdigris and gentle handling wear across the surface. Height 8 cm (3 1/8 in.), width 5.5 cm (2 3/16 in.).
Condition
All lots offered are sourced from a private estate and sold "as is, where is". Age-related wear, restoration, losses and imperfections are normal attributes of antique works of art. Period attributions, dynasty dates and chronological descriptions within lot headings are supplied for reference purposes only. It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to assess and verify the actual age and authenticity of each lot. The absence of a reference to a defect does not imply the lot is free from damage or restoration. The auctioneer makes no warranty as to condition, age or authenticity of any lot.
