A Chinese Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Box and Cover
Of round form, carved through layers of red lacquer, the domed cover with a cartouche depicting six immortals and an attendant in a rocky landscape with old gnarled trees on a dense ground of triangle work encircled by a keyfret border alternating with flowering branches, the sides and base of the box with shaped cartouches of flowering branches alternating with open lotus, all on a dense honeycomb and triangular work background, the foot with a band of keyfret work, the interior and base in black lacquer. Period: Qianlong (1736 - 1795). Diameter: 29 cm.
