Yuan dynasty (1271-1368), the tapering body sweeping up to a broad rounded shoulder, surmounted by a short, waisted neck and lipped rim, covered with a cream-white glaze streaked with a brown tone, the rim under a black and brown glaze, 34cm high Provenance: From the collection of Dr Jonathan Broido. Dr Jonathan Broido (1941-2008) was a professor of mathematics and philosophy. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and lectured in the US, Israel and the UK, in philosophy, mathematics, AI and interdisciplinarity. He was also an avid collector and lecturer on antiques and rugs - known in particular for his expertise and love of Asian ceramics and rare and archaic Turkoman weavings.
