A Chinese Gilt-Brass Covered Container with Peking Glass Court-Style Finial
A decorative Chinese gilt-brass covered container of cylindrical and faceted form, richly embellished with raised foliate borders and figural panels depicting mounted and attendant figures against dark enamel grounds. Accented with turquoise and colored enamel details. The fitted circular lid is surmounted by a smooth pinkish-red Peking glass sphere, designed in the manner of a Qing Dynasty court official’s hat button, resting on a lotus-form support. Possibly intended as a tea caddy, incense container or decorative storage vessel. Height: 5 in.
