A Chinese Longquan celadon barrel stool
16th/17th century
Of barrel form, with an everted tapering band to the shoulder, incised to the body with floral motifs within rounded panels against diaper ground, the top decorated with a large leafy peony stem within rounded panel, covered in a crackled olive green glaze, 40cm high.

Condition Report:
Significant crazing in glaze, the top section has been broken off and associated with cracks (unfilled cracks to the inside of the stool), all repaired with touch up in gilding. Wear to the glaze, especially the top section. Foot with two small drilled holes, probably for TL testing.
