A Chinese Ming Dynasty GIlt Lacquered Wood Sculpture of Bodhisattva
Finely carved depicting a bodhisattva / spiritually enlightened male figure dressed in simple oversized robe seated on a rock. The sculpture of substantial weight and size retains much of it's original Gilt-lacquered exterior with minor peeling and typical age-related wear.
The back of the sculpture features a hollowed out insert.
Dating 16th - 17th Century, Ming Dynasty China.

Provenance: Property of a Gentleman, Long-standing Asian Works of Art Collector, Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, New York.
