A Chinese Natural Jadeite Jade Ruyi Lock Pendant with Interlocking Chain, 70AS
This hand-carved pendant is crafted from natural jadeite jade, measuring 2.8cm x 3.2cm. The stone presents a harmonious blend of warm golden yellow, milky white and vivid splashes of emerald green, possessing a fine crystalline texture and glossy polished finish. Sculpted in the traditional form of a ruyi lock, the face features raised ruyi-head relief motifs at the centre, framed by soft curved outlines. A freely moving interlocking ring, carved from the same piece of jadeite, loops through the upper arched bail to serve as the suspension element. In Chinese culture, lock pendants symbolise protection, longevity and the securing of good fortune for the wearer. The fluid contours and clever openwork carving highlight the attractive tri-colour palette and natural lustre of the jadeite.
