A Chinese Nephrite Jade Five Bats Openwork Pendant, 25AZ
This hand-carved pendant is crafted from nephrite jade, measuring 5.7cm x 4.5cm. The plaque features intricate openwork piercing carving, with five stylized bats surrounding a central scene of peaches and auspicious fruit sprigs. The outer perimeter is enclosed within a hand-fashioned metal bezel, fitted with a small suspension ring at the top. In traditional Chinese iconography, five bats symbolize the Five Blessings: longevity, wealth, health, virtue and peaceful death, while peaches represent longevity. Delicate pierced detailing, smooth polished nephrite surface and balanced symmetrical composition demonstrate refined classical jade carving craftsmanship.
