This hand-carved pendant is crafted from natural nephrite, measuring 7cm x 2cm. The pale creamy nephrite features warm russet staining and earthy patina concentrated along the raised segmented ridges and head section, formed naturally over time. Sculpted as a stylized silkworm caterpillar, the carving displays evenly spaced rounded body segments tapering toward the tail, with simplified raised features defining the head and a transverse piercing hole for suspension. In ancient Chinese jade iconography, the silkworm motif symbolizes rebirth, transformation, abundance and the vitality of silk production. The piece has softly rounded edges with a gentle satin polish that highlights the stone's natural colour variations and aged surface patina.
