A Chinese Pale Green with Russet Mottled Jade 'Dragon' Plaque, 54AR
This finely carved rectangular plaque is worked from pale green jade with prominent russet mottled colour concentrated on the front face, featuring high relief carving of a coiled dragon clutching a flaming pearl, with defined scales, whiskers and flowing appendages set against the flat plaque surface. The dragon motif symbolises power, good fortune and imperial auspiciousness in traditional Chinese iconography. The jade shows a pale green base tone contrasted with rich layered russet patina across one half of the stone, with natural banded striations and faint fine inclusions visible on the plain reverse side. The plaque is smoothly polished on both sides, with masterful high relief carving and fine incised lines detailing the dragon scales, and a small drilled suspension hole at the upper edge. Dimensions: 6.5 cm x 4 cm
