A Chinese Robin’s Egg Turquoise-Glazed Dragon-Turtle Censer

Qing dynasty(1644-1912) ; A boldly modeled Chinese ceramic censer in the form of a mythical dragon-turtle (longgui), covered overall in a vibrant Robin’s Egg blue glaze. The glaze displays the characteristic mottled and speckled texture of this rare finish, with variegated tones of turquoise, sky blue, and dark cobalt pooling in the recesses, creating a rich, dappled surface. The creature is rendered with a powerful dragon head, bulging eyes, curled whiskers, and a beaded mane cascading down the neck. The domed tortoise shell is incised with geometric designs, and an aperture on the back serves as the opening for incense. The underside is similarly glazed, with the feet left partly unglazed from firing, as typical of Qing-period lead-glazed ceramic sculpture. Length: 5 inches; Height: 2.5 inches.

Condition
Overall in good condition with minor expected wear consistent with age. A few small chips along the dragon’s whiskers (longxu), almost could not see it.
