A Chinese black-ground Famille Verte vase

Of slender baluster form with slightly flaring mouth rim, decorated in famille verte enamels with warriors on horseback, banner men, and foot warriors brandishing shields, the neck decorated with men at leisure on a terrace, all against a black background, the base glazed and with an apocryphal six-character mark of Kangxi. Period: 19th century. Height: 43 cm.

Wladimir Simon Semcesen (1906‑1969) born in Austria Hungary, settled in Oslo, Norway in 1936. In the 1950’s and 1960’s before the Cultural Revolution in China, he acquired works of art in China that he brought back to Europe.
