A Chinese blue and white meiping vase, Ming Dynasty, 15th century. With short flaring neck, painted with a gentleman and an attendant watching a crane in flight in a fenced garden of pine and rockwork, the shoulder with scattered precious objects, height 33cm, width 14cm. (2) Probably a replacement neck. The body has many pitted marks to the glaze. There is long line area of raised blown glaze. Various line firing cracks to the glaze and a hairline crack emanating from one. Various glaze scratches. The foot with large 25 x 25mm glaze chip to the foot. The base has a deep firing crack but this doesn't appear to have gone right through the base. Holding it up to the light and looked in the vase you can't see daylight.
