[ translate ]

A Chinese glazed celadon pottery censer
Early 20th century, or earlier; China
The censer exterior incised with wave design over a combed diagonal diaper and cloud pattern, all raised on three feet, covered in a pale green glaze except the interior well and the underside
5.75" H x 12.125" Dia.
Provenance: Estate of Paul Leroy Grigaut, Ann Arbor, MI
The Collection of Walter and Nesta Spink, Ann Arbor, MI, acquired from the above May 16, 1970

Other notes: This lot includes a copy of a letter from Walter Spink to Mr. Grigaut's estate lawyer, listing four items, including this piece, for which he was enclosing a payment check as dated above..
Condition Report: Old kiln flaws/cracks extending from the underside to the walls, later reinforced with a copper wire. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
