An old label on the back states that this painting was; "painted by Tai Chi (active ca. 1446), the seal reads: ‘Tai Chin of Ch’ien T'ang (Hangchow)". Tai Chi is the alternative spelling of Dai Jin (1388–1462), a Chinese landscape painter best known for being the founder of the Zhe School.Dimensions25.5 x 25.5 cm (or 42.5 x 42.5 cm including frame)LiteratureProvenance: Collection of Peter Boode (1887-1972), by descent to the current owner.Condition ReportSome holes and old insect damage (see photos).
