A Collection of Alfred Meakin Harmony Venetian Blue and Royal Commemorative Ceramics.
A collection of various decorative ceramics, glassware, and a framed print primarily of British origin. The collection includes:
Two Alfred Meakin Harmony Venetian Blue earthenware rimmed soup bowls. The light blue glaze features a red circular band and a black transfer-printed border of foliate scrolls and pineapple-style motifs. The underside of one plate features a printed backstamp with a crown symbol reading HARMONY VENETIAN BLUE ALFRED MEAKIN ENGLAND.
A Wedgwood Golden Jubilee commemorative plate with its original light blue printed card box. The plate rim reads TO CELEBRATE THE GOLDEN JUBILEE OF and features a central transfer-printed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the dates 1952 and 2002. The box is printed with the word WEDGWOOD.
A Royal Marriage commemorative plate presented in a dark blue card box. The central decoration consists of a heart-shaped portrait of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer with text reading 29th JULY 1981.
A ceramic biscuit barrel with a wicker handle and a matching teapot, both moulded and hand-painted in the style of thatched-roof cottages.
Three graduated white ceramic jugs featuring transfer-printed fruit designs of apples, pears, and cherries, finished with gold-tone rims.
A white milk glass oval serving dish with a red rose and green leaf transfer-printed design to the exterior.
A tall cylindrical cobalt blue glass vase with a moulded, bark-like textured surface.
An oval-framed print depicting a woman in rural dress seated beside a cottage, housed in a gold-tone moulded frame.
More Information
The Alfred Meakin plates show visible crazing to the glaze (photo 2 and 3). The cottage-ware biscuit barrel and teapot exhibit minor paint loss and small chips to the raised edges (photo 1). The Wedgwood and Royal Marriage plates remain in their original packaging; the Wedgwood box shows light wear and a small tear to the corner (photo 4). The milk glass dish, blue glass vase, and graduated jugs appear in good condition with no visible chips or cracks. The framed print shows no visible damage to the image or frame.
