A collection of earthenware tableware manufactured by Midwinter in Staffordshire, England, dating to 1964. The set is decorated in the Oranges and Lemons pattern, also known as Spanish Garden, featuring transfer-printed motifs of citrus fruit and stylized leaves in shades of orange, green, brown, and blue. The pieces utilize the modernist Fashion Shape, with the tureens and sauce boat finished in a two-tone design of brown-glazed exteriors and white interiors. The set includes:

A large oval serving platter with a central fruit motif.

Two square vegetable tureens with white lids, each featuring curved brown handles.

A sauce boat with an elongated spout and a matching white stand.

A group of three stacks of square-shaped plates in graduated sizes, comprising approximately 18 pieces in total.

The base of the pieces bears a printed mark in grey ink reading Midwinter Stylecraft STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND FASHION SHAPE 4-64.

More Information

The large oval platter shows significant surface wear, with a large area of yellowish-brown staining and glaze loss to the centre (photo 1). The sauce boat stand has a visible dark inclusion or kiln speck near the orange motif (photo 5). One white plate in the foreground stack shows a small brown inclusion on the rim at the 8 o'clock position (photo 4).
