A Combined Percussion Rifle and Shotgun by Johann Adam

Heavy round Damascus barrels with patent breechblock, right in 15 mm calibre is rifled with eight grooves. The shotgun barrel is in 18 mm calibre. The barrel rib signed "J. ADAM KUCHENREUTER IN REGENSBURG" in gold in front of a gold-filled horseman mark. Engraved patent breechblock inscribed with "2", the floral engraved tang with a foldable peep sight. Percussion locks engraved with hunting (polar bear) and floral ornamentation. Folding buffers. Set triggers. Nicely carved walnut half stock (the forestock shows some cracks) with cheek piece, checkered butt stock and patch box. Engraved iron furniture. Original ramrod with brass tip. Germany, circa 1840, length 105 cm. Johann Adam Kuchenreuter, the younger (1794 - 1869) was court gunsmith to the Princes of Thurn and Taxis, gunsmith to the Royal Bavarian Court after 1840. Owner was probably Ferdinand von Wrangel (Russian: äõN€Ã´Ã¸ýðIÂýô ßõN‚N€þIÂòøN‡ ÃÂ’N€Ã°IÂýóõûNÂŒ, tr.
